About me: I am a pro whitewater stand up paddle (SUP) boarder and I participate in what I believe is the new American dream, #vanlife. I travel from river to river, hitting all the competitions I can and surfing every standing wave in my path. I try to spend as much time as possible paddling on the rioas the snow melts over the summer months. I don’t have a shower installed in my $1,500, 1992 Toyota Previa Minivan home, but being in the river everyday washes the smell away.
I started spending time on the river with my father and older brother when I was only five years old. From then on, summers were filled with raft trips and kayaking, especially since my dad is the president of Recreation Engineering and Planning (REP), a company dedicated to building whitewater parks around the country. I have a degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado, and I work for REP between paddling trips.
During the past few years, I have gone on to win many whitewater competitions including the GoPro Mountain Games in Colorado and complete pioneering whitewater missions like my six-day, 226-mile, self-supported SUP descent of the Grand Canyon. I try to SUP bigger whitewater than anyone considers possible and travel all over the world paddling and showing off this new sport.
